Bobby Hutcherson (born January 27, 1941 in Los Angeles) is a jazz vibraphone and marimba player. His vibraphone playing is suggestive of the style of Milt Jackson in its free-flowing melodicism but his sense of harmony and group interaction is thoroughly modern. Of course Joe Locke claims Bobby as a major influnce and a true innovator and master of the vibraphone.
That, and they are great friends.
Last year, at Jazz Baltica in Germany, both Joe and Bobby were Artists In Residence where they played a concert together that was filmed for German television.
