Joe Venuti - Violin Jazz 1927-1934

Giuseppe (Joe) Venuti (September 16, 1903 – August 14, 1978) was a U.S. jazz musician and violinist. Venuti claimed to have been born aboard a ship as his parents emigrated from Italy, though many believe he was simply born in Philadelphia. Later in life he said that he was born in Italy in 1896 and that he came to the U.S. in 1906. Being white and being a violinist were two strikes against him and he was not going to let it be known he was from Europe. Considered the father of jazz violin, he pioneered the use of string instruments in jazz along with the guitarist Eddie Lang, a childhood friend of his. Through the 1920s and early 1930s, Venuti made many recordings, as leader and as featured soloist. He worked with Benny Goodman, the Dorsey Brothers, Bing Crosby, Jack Teagarden, the Boswell Sisters and most of the other important white jazz and semi-jazz figures of the late 1920s and early 1930s. Venuti and Lang recorded a series of milestone jazz records for the OKeh label during the 1920s. However, following Lang's early death in 1933, he began to slip off the radar, though he continued performing through the 1930s. He was also a strong early influence on western swing players like Jesse Ashlock, not to mention the fact that Lang and Venuti were the primary influences of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli. Tuna Kiremitçi (d. Şubat 1973, Eskişehir), çağdaş Türk yazardır. 1973 yılında Eskişehir’de doğdu. Murat Atılgan, Yunus Emre ve Dumlupınar İlkokulları’nın ardından ilköğrenimini, 10 yaşındayken taşındıkları Ankara’da tamamladı.
İlk şiirleri, Galatasaray Lisesi yıllarında Varlık dergisinde yayımlandı. Kendisine "Yaşar Nabi Nayır Şiir Ödülü"nü kazandıran "Ayabakanlar" adlı kitabı 1994 yılında okuyucuyla buluştu. 1997’de Bosnalı şair İzzet Sarayliç’le "Erguvan Balkan Şiir Ödülü"nü paylaştı. Tuna Kiremitçi (b. February 1973, Eskişehir) is a contemporary Turkish author
His first poems were published in the magazine Varlık during his Galatasaray High School years. His book entitled "Ayabakanlar" (Moon Watchers) that won him the "Yazar Nabi Nayır" Award for Poetry met his readers in 1994. In 1997 he shared the "Erguvan Balkan Poetry Award with the Bosnian poet Izzet Saraylic. This was followed by his second book of poems "Akademi" (Academy) in 1998.
Tuna Kiremitçi's first novel "Git Kendini Çok Sevdirmeden" (Leave Before I Fall in) that came out in 2002 excited great interest and was acknowledged as one of the most important literary events of that year His second novel "Bu İşte Bir Yalnızlık Var" (Way of Loneliness) and "Bazı Şiirler Bazı Şarkılar" (Some Poems Some Songs) a collection of his poems were published in 2003 His books "Yolda Üç Kişi" (Three On The Road) and "A.Ş.K. Katherine Jenkins (born 29 June 1980 in Neath, Wales) is an award-winning Welsh mezzo-soprano. Her first album Premiere made her the fastest-selling mezzo-soprano to date and she later became the first British classical artist to have two number one albums in the same year.
She also stands as the first female artist to win two consecutive Classical BRIT Awards. Jenkins has released four classical number one studio albums to date, with a fifth album recently released on November 19, 2007. Her albums feature arias, popular songs, hymns and classical crossover music and she has performed in a large number of concerts around the United Kingdom and other countries, including the United States and Australia. Branford Marsalis (August 26, 1960, Breaux Bridge, Louisiana) is an American jazz and classical saxophonist.
He is the oldest of the six Marsalis brothers, sons of Delores Ferdinand Marsalis and pianist Ellis Marsalis, Jr.: Wynton Marsalis, Ellis Marsalis III, Delfeayo Marsalis, Mboya Kinyatta, and Jason Marsalis. Wynton, Delfeayo, and Jason are also jazz musicians. Ellis is a poet, photographer, and network engineer based in Baltimore.
