Dull Fame of Desire is the new Bjrok single features Antony Hegardy. I don't like Bjork since she gets in this amazon image, colorful artworks, stupid make ups. However, this sounds epic than anythin in Volta. Volta wasn't memorable enough. I'm loveing Dull Flame Of Desire destpite its long play time

I really love this album, though I can see why it may not have mass appeal.
Musically, it is a highly imaginative work, cramming seemingly chaotic but beautifully constructed compositions into an organic whole, dressed up with complex rhythms, strange sounds and sound effects- on Bath, Bjork manages to make her voice sound like a tea kettle! Add Japanese theatre antics, occasional bizarre lyrics and you get a very vivid aural experience. It is a soundtrack, but for me it works just fine without the actual visual part- it would be interesting to see it, but I don't feel that anything is missing.
I can't really point out a favourite track, every song has its extreme wicked charms, but if I had to choose, the bells, glass and spoons adorned Ambergris March and the rain drenched, wailing, reverb filled Storm are the strongest, most original statements; Hunter Vessel, with its majestic brass sound, is the one I keep returning to a lot.
Certainly, casual fans and admirers of Bjork's pop side might be freaked out, and many people may just not get it. This is not to say that this work needs any particularly deep thinking on anyone's part in order to be appreciated- if anything, soft spot for all things primal might be useful here- but it certainly helps if you are in a mood for strange, unhinged music. For serious Bjork fans, this is a great dish, for anybody else, it's really worth taking a plunge in these whale fishing waters. It's not a safe, orderly and conventionally pleasant musical experience, but at the very least, it may inspire an intense (and verbose?) reaction, good or bad, but certainly strong.

I was in a funk all day after listening to this album for the first time. Being a Bjork fan (almost verging on obsessive) for over 11 years, to say that I anticipated Bjork's next release is an understatement.

I can tell that I am not going to be popular given all of the 5-star reviews already posted but can see that I am not entirely alone in being utterly disappointed. Bjork is truly one of my favorite artists but I am not so enamored by her that I will convince myself to like something that I don't just because she is the one who created it.

Most of the tracks would be listenable were it not for the hyperventilating, moans, cries, and wails that make some tracks almost laughable. In fact, some of them I did laugh (especially the track Ancestors!), thinking to myself "You've got to be kidding me!". Although some songs have stuck in my head and provide a glimpse of the "old" Bjork in all of her glory, I was hoping for an album that I couldn't wait to listen to over and over again, that would satiate me for the years of wait until her next album. I did not find this in Medulla.

She has said that she felt cleansed after completing this album and I sure hope she got it all out of her system because if the next album is like this one, I don't know what I'll do.....

I find it hard to even begin to describe how wonderful this album is, but let me just say that I have never heard anything quite like this, even from Bjork herself. This is not techno, or dance, or big band, or industrial, or anything definable. There are a few hints here and there: Aphex Twin, Radiohead circa Kid A, Brian Eno, but where Radiohead came at the minimalist-techno from a rock-based direction, complete with drums and guitars, Bjork has come to a similar point but from a totally different tradition, that of classical music. The only really helpful benchmarks I can think of are two of her own songs from previous albums: "Possibly Maybe", and "All Is Full of Love", but even those can't begin to express Vespertine. My favourite songs on the album are "It's Not Up to You", possibly the first anthem of the new millenium, "Pagan Poetry", which has a stunning bassline and a chilly, immense power to it, the gorgeous "Aurora", which literally make me break down and cry (which hasn't happened from music for me in years), and "Heirloom", a new kind of pop song, and the closest thing the album has for dance music. This album is the most beautiful thing you will hear all year, and I am tempted to say that it the holy grail of electronic music: the first album to fully merge transcendence and radiance with avant-garde music.

say goodbye to the deliciously demented Sugarcubes, and say hello to Bjork solo pop star! in her old bands it was obvious that there was a mighty strong force brewing in her mind and with her vocals. sometimes her ideas seemed suffocated by her fellow band member's contributions; so thank god that someone had the sense to let her go solo and really explore the outer and inner dephths of her talent. now that she has enjoyed a healthy and high profile solo career for quite some time; it's amazing to take a look back at her past catalogue and examine her progression over the years.

"Telegram" stands out not just as an excellent Bjork album, but also as a superb example of how a remix album should be done. (Massive Attack's "No Protection" is another outstanding example.) the Bjork originals on "Telegram" are not just given a thumping 4/4 techno beat or some other kind of lazy "remix" treatment. in fact, many of these songs add so much more life to the originals that you may have a hard time choosing which is your favorite. it's also amazing to me that even though each song gets a different remix from a different artist, the whole album has a very coherent and organic feel to it. the songs flow and some of the performances are downright brilliant! "Possibly Maybe" warps and spaces out Bjork's sultry vocals and adds a lazy stumbling beat that fits it perfectly. Deodato's treatment of "Isobel" is sheer bliss, and "I Miss You" in the hands of Dobie becomes a fun and bouncy hip-hop lite anthem. the new track on here "My Spine" comes across alot like some of the percussion from Tom Waits' "Bone Machine" album crossed with some crazy calypso. it's a great song and fits in perfectly with the whole of the album. there are lots of great ideas and artistic energy here on "Telegram."

that's the beauty of Bjork. she can harness all her outrageous ideas and mold (or allow her producers to mold) those elements and create an amazing sonic masterpiece that stands the test of time. all her albums come highly recommended and i have a hard time trying to tell people who don't own any of her solo albums which one is best to start with. and even though it is a remix album, "Telegram" is a fine place as any to begin exploring.

The first time I listened to Homogenic, I was a little disappointed. I missed the eclectic sounds of Bjork's previous album, Post. To me Homogenic 'all sounded the same'. Then I listened a few more times, and it was only then that I really heard and appreciated the music. Now I consider it to be Bjork's best yet.

A strange but effective mixture of hard techno beats and string octet performances is the 10 song backdrop for Bjork's unique voice. The album starts with 'Hunter', a searching, determined track. It moves through songs of loneliness, desire, and passion. Track 9, Pluto, is the album's intense climax. The sheer energy in this track is astonishing (and you simply cannot turn the volume up enough, in my opinion). Homogenic closes with the soft, peaceful 'All Is Full Of Love', a song so beautiful it brought tears to my eyes.

You don't have this album? What are you still reading this for? Go out and experience it for yourself - I promise you won't be disappointed.

Bjork has refined her sound and evolved as an artist, inspiring others since her first album, released in '93, but 'Debut' is a treasure that's just as priceless and definitely worth having in one's collection. She impressed and showed much potential here, suggesting more to offer in the future, and is one of few that manages to outshine the previous endeavor with the next. She blew many electronic fans away with her refreshingly innovative style and wacky video ideas, staking her claim as a force not to be reckoned with.

On latter albums such as 'Homogenic' and 'Vespertine', the songs were deeper and ultimately darker but most of the material here is playful dance tunes. The music, however, is creatively unique with Bjork's vocal prowess and groovy atmospherics. She became a household name with club hits like "Big Time Sensuality" and "Violently Happy" but, for me, the true highlights include the emotionally-charged "Venus As a Boy" - a striking melody with hypnotic beats and lush strings that have a slight Middle Eastern feel, and the beautifully crafted "Come To Me", which may just be my all-time favorite Bjork song with its delicate, melodic rhythms and gentle yet achy cooing.

Enigma - The Screen Behind the Mirror [2000]

After 3 years of waiting, Enigma 4 finally starts a new story. With the last album Le Roi Est Mort ending a Trilogy, The Screen begins a new journey into what Enigma is about: being mystical and beautiful. Although this album requires some getting used to, once one is in the zone, each tune sounds like a ticket to a strange and mysterious world. "Push The Limits" starts the album off with a bang and the haunting "Gravity Of love" with vocals from Olive set the stage for a classic album. The "Smell Of Desire" works as a combination of elements from all 3 albums so far and "Modern Crusader" lifts the energies. The album is by far the most instrumental so to date and also the most different, which is good to see. Enigma have never been boring, they are bad at it. The strong theme of the album is made powerful by Carl Orffs Carmina Burana sampled several times. The theme of the album: listen, feel, learn and understand, the album is meant to be felt rather than spelled out. SO what if a song is called "Silence Must Be Heard" or Traces(Light & Weight), look a little deeper, maybe you'll know what Enigma mean!
