Michael Jackson - Thriller 25th Anniversary - BONUS DVD

Thriller 25 is a 25th Anniversary edition of Thriller by Michael Jackson, the world's best-selling album.[2] It was released internationally on February 11, 2008 and the following day in the United States.[3]. Thriller 25 was released on Sony BMG's re-issue division, Legacy Recordings; Legacy previously released Thriller Special

As a bonus, the disc is accompanied by a DVD that features the digitally restored videos for "Thriller," "Beat It," and "Billie Jean," plus the Emmy-nominated performance of "Billie Jean" from the Motown 25 television special, which introduced the world to the "moonwalk" and launched Jackson into superstardom. 4. BILLIE JEAN The Legendary Performance from Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, and Forever

This second re-issue of Thriller is a better re-issue than the 2001 Special Edition. The sound quality is a lot better. But I still find it a tad lacking. It is missing "Can't get Outta The Rain" Which appeared on side 2/B of the 45 release of Billie Jean and "Got the hots" (Which is appearing on the Japan Release). Those 2 tracks should have been added. I wouldn't be surprised if the album has a 30th anniversary edition 5 years later with those 2 songs adeed. Also, The Kanye West Remix of Billie Jean was a tad disappointing. Kanye gave the song a great new beat but I was hoping to get a rap verse out of him on the track. The Fergie remix to Beat It wasn't too bad either. I have nothing against Fergie but I think that P!nk would have been a better choice for the song. Anyways, Like I said, this is a big improvement from the 2001 Special Edition. I think it's well worth getting for the better sound quality.

It’s 2003, Brazil’s first socialist president has just been elected, and there’s a feeling of optimism in the air that hasn’t been so strong (the old-timers tell me) since the mid-sixties.

But the music industry all over the world is experiencing problems, and Brazil’s no exception. At every set of traffic lights, there’s a pirate CD hawker. He has all the latest titles, the covers and inserts are professionally copied – and they cost about a tenth of what you’d pay in a legal retail outlet. Every week or so, the police come and confiscate half his stock, leaving him the other half because, hey, we all have to make a living.

And yet, and yet …the country that is the world’s fifth largest phonograph record producer continues to churn out truckloads of new, exciting, beautiful, moving, inspiring, funky music, made by literally tens of thousands of singers, songwriters and musicians, recorded by international record labels with definite bottom lines, and by driven independent operators whose only limit is how long they can keep the bank manager at bay. It’s like a holy obsession. It’s unique. Everybody has an opinion about music. Many know the entire canon of their favourite singer by heart and it’s the one country in the world where live albums traditionally sell better than studio recordings: Brazilians love to hear the audience sing along, it’s all part of the magic. read more...
