For the "Cartel" project, three bands got together: "Da Crime Posse" , "Erci E" and "Karakan". This album was released in 1995 and soon after the bands went their separate ways. The album gained immediate popularity in Turkey when it was first released.

Cartel contained three separate groups of Turkish rappers. These were Erci E, Karakan (Alper Ağa and Kabus Kerim) and Da Crime Posse (M.Ali, Babalu, İnceEfe and Olcay). Alper Ağa is known to be the first recognized Turkish rapper. In 1995, after recording their debut album Cartel and releasing it in Germany under PolyGram, they quickly gained attention from the German media. They had an interview with MTV Germany and explained that their mission was to introduce the world to Turkish music.

Cartel featured five songs by the group Karakan from Nuremberg, three songs by Da Crime Posse from Kiel, three songs by the West Berlin artist Erci C., and the title song, which was a communal recording by all groups involved. The cover design of the CD, with a red ground color and ornamented C, represented the Turkish national flag. In Turkey, the 1995 album sold over 300,000 copies, but only sold 20,000 copies to the young Turkish community in Germany, its target audience of approximately 1 million. Their manager, Oznan Sinan, said upon its release that “our target groups are the Turks, not the German society. Cartel is not defined to these three groups but intends to expand as a community…and…in time as an idea.” He used the German media to promote a cultural identity, in an effort to identify these rappers as Turks and the group’s rhymes in the Turkish language aimed at developing an ethnically defined minority. Cartel used elements of ethnic segregation as they were experienced in the history of German hip hop to try to unite the excluded parts of the hip hop community under an artificially ethnic minority, which was supposedly Turkish.^[1] Despite not selling as many albums in Germany as had hoped, they are still regarded today as the legitimate founders of Turkish hip-hop and recognized for providing a foundation for Turkish migrants to emerge in the German music scene.^[2]

In 1996, the group had a fight, split up and went separate ways. Their debut album was banned in Turkey. Karakan and Erci E released solo albums. However, due to lack of success Karakan decided that they would quit. Erci E released one more album afterwards but had low sales and little attention. In 1998, Erci E collaborated in a single with German musician Peter Maffay. Cartel's original debut album was re-released in 2004.

Dolapdere Big Gang established in the middle of 2004 by DJ producer Önder Ulugür. With 8 musicians mostly from the district of Dolapdere, İstanbul, the gang was formed. They perform the songs with their "Dolapdere Sound" by the "Alaturca" way.

Group members state their way of making music as follows: "Turkey is a country that mixes different cultures in its own because of its position in the world, it's a passway through eastern to western civilization. This mixture is very effective in Turkish way of life. We see that music gets its part from this mixture of different cultures. Till this day, Turkish music tried to adapt western vision, rhythms and style. What we are trying to do is completely the opposite way. We think, to get us listened worldwide goes through our local music from Turkey's multi cultured roots; not trying to be like western artists and imitating them. All these years we admired their songs; from Sting to Madonna, Deep Purple to Michael Jackson we performed their songs like 'us' in our own way. Now it's their turn to admire."^[1]

OK Computer is the third album by the English rock band Radiohead, released in 1997. It reached #1 on the UK Albums Chart and marked Radiohead's highest entry into the American market at the time, where it debuted at #21. OK Computer expanded the band's worldwide popularity, becoming the last Radiohead album to have a delayed release outside of the United Kingdom. As of 2007, it has been certified triple platinum in the UK and double platinum in the US.^[1][2] OK Computer included the singles "Paranoid Android", "Karma Police" and "No Surprises".

The album was recorded in rural Oxfordshire and Bath, England with Nigel Godrich, who would work with the band on all their future recordings. Although OK Computer was dominated by guitar, its expansive sound and wide range of influences set it apart from the Britpop and alternative rock styles popular at the time, laying the groundwork for Radiohead's later, more experimental work.^[3] The album's artwork, by Yorke and frequent collaborator Stanley Donwood, emphasised themes such as consumerism, social disconnection, political stagnation and modern malaise, though the band denied they set out to make a concept album.^[4]

OK Computer has received great acclaim from the public and critics. It is often cited as Radiohead's best work and as a landmark album of its time.^[5] In 1998, it was nominated for a Grammy Award as Album of the Year, and won for Best Alternative Music Album.

Kid A is the fourth album by the English rock band Radiohead, released on October 2, 2000 (2000-10-02) in the United Kingdom and on October 3, 2000 (2000-10-03) in the United States and Canada. A commercial success worldwide,^[2] Kid A went platinum in its first week of release in the UK.^[3] Despite the lack of an official single or video as publicity, Kid A became the first Radiohead release to debut at #1 in the US.^[4] This success was credited variously to a unique marketing campaign, the early Internet leak of the album,^[5] or anticipation after the band's 1997 album, OK Computer.^[6]

Romper Stomper is a 1992 Australian film directed by Geoffrey Wright starring Russell Crowe, Daniel Pollock, Jacqueline McKenzie and Tony Lee. The film follows the exploits and downfall of a Nazi skinhead group in blue-collar suburban Melbourne.

The soundtrack released on Picture This Records includes orchestral music, as well as dark, energetic music similar to the Oi! genre (recorded by studio musicians). The film was nominated for 9 Australian Film Institute Awards, winning Best Achievement in Sound, Best Actor in a Lead Role and Best Original Music Score.

Daniel Pollock, who plays Davey in the film, committed suicide before the film's release by jumping in front of a train. He had been struggling with a serious heroin addiction, as well as the breakup of his romantic relationship with co-star Jacqueline McKenzie. Crowe wrote a song about the suicide called "The Night That Davey Hit the Train" which he later performed with his band 30 Odd Foot of Grunts.

I'm non-white, and a newbie to this Oi! thing, but I do like the fast pace of this musical genre, and I'm interested in getting more. Yes, it's a bit weird at first going along with lyrics of violence directed at people who look like me, but you know human beings get used to most anything. I'm just focusing on the music, I guess, the language of anger and frustration, of outrage and abandon, of illusions of grandeur and empowerment...LOL. As an introduction, I think this is a fairly solid way of broaching that Oi! scene, though I was hoping for maybe some new material...anyway, it is a soundtrack all right. Oddly, not much info was provided: no lyrics, the band ain't even listed....
