Vangelis - Greatest Special Edition

In the early 1960s Evangelos Odysseas Papathanassiou was one of the founders of pop group The Forminx (or The Formynx), which became very popular in Greece. Based in Thessaloniki in the north of the country, the five-piece band played a mixture of cover versions and their own material, the latter written mostly by Vangelis but still sung in English, something which was unusual in Greece at that time. The Forminx released nine hit singles and a Christmas EP before disbanding in 1966 at the peak of their success. A film being made about them at the time was never finished. Vangelis spent the next two years mostly studio-bound, writing and producing for other Greek artists.

He is best known for his Academy Award winning score for the film Chariots of Fire, and scores for the films Blade Runner (1982) and 1492: Conquest of Paradise (1992)

Introduction
At the end of 1969 Vangelis composed and released his first music for a movie outside of Greece. "Sex Power" (sub-titled "L'Homme Coeur") is a 81 minute long movie and also a first for director Henry Chapier, who won the Silver Shell Award with his film at the San Sebastian Film Festival.

The musical score that Vangelis wrote for this film has become the 'holy-grail' of collector's items, as the LP released by Philips in France and Greece can be viewed as Vangelis very first solo album. Not many copies must have been sold at the time, and with the current high demand its value ranges into the hundreds of dollars.

Demis Roussos - Fire And Ice [1971]

Roussos also began a solo career following the collapse of the band, beginning with the song "We Shall Dance". Initially unsuccessful, he toured southern Europe and soon became a leading vocalist. His solo career peaked in the 1970s with several hit albums. His single, "Forever and Ever", topped the charts in several countries in 1973 (1976 in U.K.). Solo kariyer
1971'de Roussos'un ilk albümü Fire and Ice (ya da bazı versiyonlarında adı "On The Greek Side Of My Mind") yayınlandı. Albümden çıkan Lucas Sideras'ın da bateride olduğu "We Shall Dance" sanatçının ilk büyük solo hiti oldu ve bu şarkı tüm Avrupa'yı turlamasına neden oldu. Albümde gitarist Silver Koulouris de ona eşlik ediyordu. 1972'de yeni hiti "My Reason" yayınlanır ve şarkının başarısıyla Olympia'da konser verdi.

1973 tarihli Forever And Ever albümü ise Roussos'un en büyük albümü oldu. "My Reason"'ın yanında "Goodbyle My Love Goodbye", "My Friend The Wind", "Forever And Ever" gibi hitleri de bu albümdeydi. Albüm tüm Avrupa'da iki milyona yakın sattı. 1974'te de yeni albüm "My only fascination" yayınlandı. Roussos büyük bir hızlı Avrupa'da bir çok dergiye röportaj verip, konserlere çıkıyordu. 1975 yılında Demis Roussos bir erkek çocuk sahibi oldu.

1970'lerin sonlarına doğru arka arkaya "Souvenirs", "Happy to be", "The Roussos Phenomenon", "Ainsi soit-il", "Magic" albümleri yayınlandı. 1977 tarihli "Magic" albümünün prodüktörü Vangelis'ti ancak albüm çok başarılı bulunmadı. 1978 tarihli "Demis Roussos" albümü Amerika'da kaydedilmişti. 1979 "Universum" ise 4 dilde söylenmiş şarkıları içeriyordu. 1980 tarihli "Man Of The World", içindeki Lost In Love şarkısı ile eski günlere yakın bir başarı kazandı.
